Duke of Connaught TDSB
Active Mechanical acted as the mechanical and general contractor for a multi‑phase steam‑to‑hot‑water (STHW) plant conversion. The project involved decommissioning the existing steam infrastructure and implementing a fully modernized hot‑water distribution and generation system while maintaining building operation throughout construction. The multi‑phase initiative involved transforming the existing steam plant into a modern hot water system while coordinating numerous sub‑trades, including abatement contractors, millworkers, civil contractors, electricians, sprinkler fitters, carpenters, and BAS technicians.
One Hotel Interior Renovations
Active Mechanical provided comprehensive plumbing services for a full-scale hotel renovation and expansion spanning March to August 2021. Scope of work included the complete plumbing rough-in and finish for a 110-guest-room renovation, as well as the addition of five new suites on the hotels third floor. New facility construction covered a gym, change rooms, and steam showers. Lobby renovations encompassed plumbing for a green wall feature, lobby bar, Casa Maderas bar and washrooms, 1 Kitchens bar, washrooms, and kitchen. Additional work included all plumbing associated with Harriets Rooftop, along with the installation of gas piping for the rooftop area.
Union Station Sanitary Sewer Surcharge Conditioning & Ejector Pump Work
Mechanical served as the general contractor for a major infrastructure project at the historic Union Station in Downtown Toronto. The work involved replacing all 42 existing sewage pumps throughout the facility and upgrading the Building Automation System (BAS). The scope also included constructing new stormwater pits along the Bay Street Teamway to address recurring flooding issues.
