Erin Meadows Community Centre
Active acted as a GC for the project including the control, electrical, civil and chemical treatment work in addition to the mechanical work that included, condensing and hot water piping, welded, threaded and copper piping, refrigeration, sheetmetal and insulation work.
Richmond Hill Central Library
As the general contractor, Active Mechanical upgraded the cooling towers, booster pumps, sum pumps, chilled water pumps, and condensation pump replacements for the City of Richmond Hill. Completing control, electrical, civil, chemical treatment, and mechanical work in relation to the replacement of cooling towers, piping, roofing, and structural work.
55 Stewart Street
Active Mechanical was engaged to install two new make up air units (MUAs) on separate towers and a 200 ton air cooled chiller. The scope of work included upgrading the entire chilled water plant and incorporating a glycol system to address ongoing freezing issues with the original design. The project also involved replacing the existing condensing units with VRF systems to improve energy efficiency and reduce the building's overall carbon footprint. In addition, the work required extensive coordination with the municipality, neighboring buildings, and the adjacent TTC station to facilitate multiple large scale crane lifts.
Winston Churchill
Active Mechanical served as both the mechanical and general contractor for the steam-to-hot-water conversion project. Active Mechanical installed four new boilers, a dedicated glycol system for specific air-handling units, twelve pumps with VFDs, five expansion tanks, and three air separators. We also installed new gas piping across the roof and added 20-inch venting for the new boiler room.
Agincourt Collegiate Institute
Agincourt Collegiate Institute, one of the Toronto District School Board's flagship secondary schools, required a comprehensive HVAC modernization to address aging infrastructure and improve system reliability, comfort, and energy performance. The project involved a complete heating plant replacement, 11 AHU installations, and system-wide control upgrades executed during a compressed summer window.
St. Elizabeth Seton
Active served as the GC for the project, overseeing control, electrical, civil, piping, equipment supply and installation, and chemical treatment work, in addition to mechanical work that included boiler replacement, boiler vent and piping, gas piping, TSSA certification, testing and air balancing, fire-fighting modification, fire alarm verification, and more.
Sunny View Junior & Senior Public School
This comprehensive mechanical retrofit modernized Sunny View School's aging steam-based heating system through complete conversion to hot water, addressing comfort, energy efficiency, and system reliability.
